Marsaskala FC is a Maltese football club based in the village of Marsaskala or as it known in Maltese, Wied il-Ghajn. This club represents the south-eastern town of Marsaskala which has the fastest growing rate on the island. The club was founded in 2010.
During the first season, 2010-2011, the club finished in penultimate position but won the Fair Play award. In season 2012-2013 the club aimed high and infact finished third in the league and therefore obtained promotion to the Second Division. The following season the Club competed in the Second Division for the first time. It was a pity that the club was relegated on the last day of the season and was fairly close to saving itself from relegation.
In 2014-2015 season the club passed through a total revamp, both in administration and on the pitch as the main aim was and still is to consolidate the player pool base.
When the club was conceived way back in 2010, the main aim was to have a nursery, as Marsaskala has the growing fastest rate on the island. The nursery was founded a year later and children train and compete in every category starting from the age of 5 years old. The first group of players which competed in the name of Marsaskala FC Nursery nowadays form the nucleus of players in the U/19 team or in the minors team. In fact some of them even form part of the senior team.
The Club is now working towards realising its own football ground at the Marsaskala Family Park. This new ground was launched in May 2016 and will be funded by the Government.
